'Rising' relates to the dawn of the day you were born. At the time of your birth, there was a dawn occuring somewhere on Earth and during that time when the sun rose up, there was a star sign constellation that was prominent in the sky at that very time. That star sign is known as your rising sign.

If you were born at dawn, your rising sign may be the same as your sun sign and hence your personality traits are more likely to be very typical of your star sign.
